About The Position

The EVS Tech II position is a full-time role responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting various areas within the hospital, including patient rooms, clinical treatment areas, and other building spaces. This role involves moving furniture and equipment, maintaining floors and carpets, and performing other environmental services duties to ensure a neat, orderly, and sanitary hospital environment. The position also requires providing excellent customer service and potentially taking charge of the department in the absence of leadership.

Requirements

Ability to positively communicate and interact with patients, visitors, and other employees.
Ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
Physical ability necessary to frequently lift moderate to heavy weights of linen/trash.
Physical ability to push carts loaded with supplies and/or linens.
Physical ability to operate cleaning machinery.
Physical ability to move furniture using appropriate moving equipment.
Physical stamina to repeatedly perform tasks.
Ability to work off-shifts, including weekends and evenings.
One to two years environmental services experience.
Ability to operate all department machinery, including floor care equipment.
Ability to understand oral instructions.
Ability to read and understand written assignments, policies, memos, and SDS sheets.
Ability to write instructions on work orders and inter-shift and inter-departmental communications.
Must have the ability to lift/push greater than 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

One to two years of health care environmental services experience, such as EVS Tech-1.

Responsibilities

Cleans, sanitizes, and disinfects patient rooms, clinical treatment areas, and other building areas according to established procedures.
Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies to, from, and within assigned areas.
Maintains floors by burnishing, stripping, and waxing.
Maintains carpets by vacuuming, spot cleaning, and shampooing.
Performs other environmental services duties to maintain the hospital in a neat, orderly, and sanitary condition.
Provides excellent customer service.
Takes charge of the department, including answering pages, when the Director of EVS and EVS Supervisor is not present.
Supports the Mission and Vision of RML Specialty Hospital by demonstrating RML's Core Values of Service, Teamwork, Accountability, Integrity, Respect and Stewardship (STAIRS).

Performs all departmental cleaning processes according to established policy and completes all responsibilities without direct supervision.
Processes linen and operates floor care machinery.
Performs daily cleaning of patient rooms and patient care units to prevent the spread of infections and ensure satisfaction.
Follows the established 12-step process when cleaning patient rooms and performing terminal cleaning after discharge.
Cleans assigned offices, departments, meeting rooms, and public areas, including restrooms, floors, furniture, fixtures, doors, ceilings, medical equipment, televisions, and windows.
Prepares cleaning solutions as needed according to established policy.
Empties trash and hazardous waste according to established policy.
Replenishes assigned areas with supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
Replenishes linen carts, returns soiled linen, and delivers clean linen.
Maintains cleanliness of hospital grounds.
Moves furniture and equipment between rooms and sets up furniture and equipment within rooms as needed.
Performs floor care and other heavy cleaning tasks when assigned, including burnishing, stripping, and waxing floors, deep cleaning carpets, and washing walls.
Completes special environmental services-related projects and other duties as assigned.
Attends internal meetings and in-services and participates in mandatory reviews of policies and procedures.
Completes required paperwork for quality assurance, plant work-orders, and inter-departmental communication.
