About The Position

Andalusia Health is an 88-bed, Joint Commission–accredited hospital in Andalusia, Alabama, offering inpatient and outpatient specialty services. The Environmental Services Worker cleans and services building areas, moves furniture, equipment, and supplies, and performs environmental services duties to help maintain the hospital in a neat, safe, and sanitary condition. This is a full-time day position.

Requirements

Read, write, and speak fluent English to comprehend instructions for cleaning materials.
Good interpersonal skills.
High school diploma or equivalent, including education equivalent to completion of secondary school, or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role (preferred).

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

Select cleaning materials and supplies, prepare cleaning solutions, and load and transport a service cart to the work area.
Clean assigned areas, including walls, doors, tile, fixtures, patient TVs, and equipment, using germicidal cleaning solutions.
Sweep and mop floors, vacuum carpet, and spot-clean carpet with appropriate solutions.
Clean restrooms, vanity areas, showers, and commodes; maintain sanitary, odor-free conditions and replenish essentials.
Collect and remove trash, and sanitize garbage cans and the compactor area.
May collect and transport hazardous waste in a special closed container for sterilization before disposal.
May collect soiled linen and distribute clean linen.
Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops, and community affairs.
Return unused supplies to the janitor closet and ensure supplies are replaced in an orderly manner.
Maintain good and regular attendance.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
