About The Position

Banner Thunderbird Medical Center has an opportunity for a Housekeeping EVS Lead. This role is responsible for ensuring the facility's appearance is top-notch. The individual will be responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining the hospital, as well as supporting leadership with training new hires, supply management, and schedules. Additionally, this individual will be trained to coordinate all department activities, including answering phone lines, monitoring the bed board, dispatching, logging, tracking, prioritizing, and assigning staff to ensure all requests are completed effectively and efficiently to enhance service levels. The work environment is fast-paced and physical, involving significant walking and pushing a cleaning cart. Responsibilities may include cleaning the morgue and specialty areas like COVID-19 units, and working with cleaning chemicals to clean up blood and bodily fluids. Candidates must be prepared for new challenges and possess great communication skills with their team and medical staff. A background check and drug screen are conducted if an offer is extended. Onboarding must be completed in a timely manner, or the job offer will be rescinded. All Banner Health employees are required to receive their annual Flu Vaccine.

Requirements

  • Requires the skills, knowledge and abilities in healthcare environmental services work typically acquired over two or more years of related work experience.
  • Must have leadership skills and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must serve as a role model to others in customer service skills, safe work practices, and infection control including hand hygiene.
  • Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
  • An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.

  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that staffing plans are carried out properly, and that all areas of the hospital/facility are staffed appropriately.
  • With supervisor, plans completion of hospital wide projects, ensures consistent service delivery standards in all aspects of the Environmental Services and Linen operations.
  • Gives input to supervisor on quality and timeliness of work performed by environmental services staff.
  • Performs cleaning functions in patient rooms, specialty areas and common areas.
  • Works closely with supervisor to train and retrain, recruit, retain and develop the Environmental Services team members, fostering a culture that reflects the core values and operational polices of our department and the company.
  • May supervise staff in the absence of the Environmental Services leader.
  • Makes work assignments and responds to immediate needs by moving staff to various areas of facility as needed.
  • Moves furniture and sets up rooms for meetings and special functions.
  • Assists supervisor in performing Quality Assurance Inspections for review and correction of deficiencies.
  • Distributes linens and supplies as needed; takes inventories in assigned areas.
  • Works independently with general supervision.
  • Oversees daily activities of a team of Environmental Services Associates.
  • Makes staffing assignments in absence of supervisor; coordinates cleaning projects as assigned, assists with on-the-job training, provides input to performance evaluations.
