Housekeeping Aid
About The Position
The EVS housekeeping aide performs cleaning and maintenance duties at VVGMC and assists with receiving, distributing, and accounting for clean linen and wearing apparel. The aide provides hospital cleaning services in accordance with regulatory requirements, follows simple instructions, keeps basic records of job duties, reports as directed, complies with principles of conduct, and communicates effectively with coworkers and management. The role provides high-quality customer service and keeps offices, hospital areas, and educational facilities clean and orderly. Duties include cleaning offices, patient or guest rooms, bathrooms, lavatories, halls, food service areas, and other areas requiring attention. The aide may clean light fixtures, ceilings, vents, walls, mattresses, furniture, windows and coverings, floors, and carpets. Other tasks may include replenishing supplies, moving furniture, hanging draperies, setting up tables and chairs, pushing or pulling a cleaning cart, moving supplies and equipment, carrying buckets, operating vacuum cleaners and telephones, maintaining tools and equipment, and wearing protective clothing as required by the work environment or regulations. The aide may also train and coordinate workers engaged in cleaning and maintaining the premises.
Requirements
- No previous experience required.
- Must meet state labor laws if operating equipment.
- Ability to follow simple instructions, keep simple records, and communicate effectively with coworkers and management.

- Knowledge of basic cleaning skills preferred.
Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain hospital, office, educational, patient or guest room, bathroom, hallway, food service, and other areas.
- Clean fixtures, ceilings, vents, walls, mattresses, furniture, windows and coverings, floors, and carpets.
- Assist with receiving, distributing, and accounting for clean linen and wearing apparel.
- Replenish supplies as needed.
- Move furniture, hang draperies, and set up tables and chairs in conference rooms or halls.
- Move supplies and equipment, push or pull a cleaning cart, and carry buckets.
- Operate and maintain cleaning tools and equipment, including vacuum cleaners.
- Keep basic records of job duties and report as directed.
- Wear protective clothing as required by the work environment or government regulations.
- Provide high-quality customer service and communicate effectively with coworkers and management.
- May train and coordinate workers engaged in cleaning and maintaining the premises.
