About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors, and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. This role involves various cleaning tasks such as emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors using appropriate equipment. The technician will ensure a clean and sterile environment in various locations within the facility, including patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas, adhering to health standards. The position requires wearing proper protective equipment, keeping storage, equipment, and carts well-stocked and tidy, and using technology like pagers appropriately. Assistance in laundry areas may also be required.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
  • Ability to use computer and prior cleaning experience is helpful.
  • Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
  • Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines.
  • Empty waste baskets.
  • Sweep, scrub, wax, or polish floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
  • Provide a clean and sterile environment for patients/residents and facility staff.
  • Clean patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met.
  • Wear the proper protective equipment following the appropriate guidelines.
  • Keep storage, equipment and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
  • Use pagers and other technology appropriately when needed.
  • Assist in the laundry areas as appropriate.
