The Team Lead – EVS / Housekeeper oversees daily housekeeping operations to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming hospital environment. This role leads and supports the housekeeping team while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, infection control, safety, and service excellence across patient rooms, clinical areas, offices, and public spaces.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1–3 years of housekeeping or environmental services experience
  • Ability to read and interpret chemical labels and safety warnings.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and protection of confidential health information.
  • Strong understanding of infection control and cleaning protocols in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to follow company policies, procedures, and Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Effective communication and basic leadership skills.

  • Additional vocational or technical training
  • 3–5 years of experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise housekeeping staff to ensure all scheduled cleaning programs are completed according to hospital policies, OSHA standards, and infection control guidelines.
  • Ensure patient rooms, common areas, dining areas, offices, and public spaces are cleaned, disinfected, and organized consistently.
  • Oversee linen management, including maintaining linen closets, collecting soiled linen, and delivering clean linen to units.
  • Ensure housekeeping carts are safe, secure, and properly stocked in patient and visitor areas.
  • Confirm proper selection and use of cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain adequate housekeeping supplies and ensure staff replenishment.
  • Enforce wet floor and safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure staff leave all assigned areas free of debris, equipment, and tools.
  • Demonstrate and promote Service Excellence standards in all interactions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
