About The Position

The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the hospital by performing floor care and general housekeeping duties. This role involves routine and project-based floor maintenance as well as support tasks such as waste removal and linen transport. The Floor Technician plays a key role in infection prevention and overall patient satisfaction.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous floor care or housekeeping experience preferred (especially in healthcare).
• Ability to operate floor machines or willingness to learn.
• Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good time management and reliability.
• Ability to follow directions and safety protocols.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift (up to 50 lbs) for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and periodic floor care, including buffing, burnishing, and polishing floors; scrubbing and refinishing hard floor surfaces; and mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming various floor types.
• Operate and maintain floor care equipment (auto scrubbers, buffers, wet vacuums, etc.).
• Collect and dispose of trash and regulated waste in accordance with hospital policies.
• Transport soiled linen and distribute clean linen as needed.
• Assist with spill clean-up and emergency floor care situations.
• Maintain equipment in clean and working condition; report any malfunctions.
• Follow infection control procedures and safety standards at all times.
• Support general EVS duties as needed, including cleaning patient rooms, hallways, and common areas.
• Ensure proper use of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
