About The Position

As an EVS Associate, you are a front-line defense in keeping patients, staff, and visitors safe and healthy by cleaning and sanitizing the hospital. The position performs cleaning of patient rooms and/or assigned areas as part of the environmental services team, helping provide a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment with minimal interference to others. Work is under regular supervision and is limited to an assigned facility or area. The schedule consists of varied days between 2:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision.
• Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others by phone and verbally.
• Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and using cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to fill out chemical identification stickers.

Nice To Haves

• Previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques.
• Additional related education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, and polishing, according to departmental policies and procedures; plan daily completion of tasks.
• Empty hampers and transport soiled linen; empty trash containers and remove trash; empty medical waste containers, including sharps.
• Inventory, restock, and replenish supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap in assigned areas.
• Keep departmental equipment clean, notify appropriate personnel when repairs are needed, protect equipment from damage through proper use, and log equipment out and in.
• Perform special projects as needed, such as washing windows or walls and removing heavily soiled items or furnishings.
• Respond to questions and requests from patients, staff, and visitors and meet or exceed customer service satisfaction goals.
• Support the safety, health, and morale of patients, visitors, and staff by maintaining a clean environment.
