About The Position

Banner Gateway Medical Center has an opportunity for a Housekeeping EVS Associate. This role is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining the hospital to ensure its appearance is top-notch. Housekeepers are an important part of the hospital staff and make a difference in the lives of patients. The environment can be fast-paced and physical, involving significant walking, pushing a cleaning cart, and potentially cleaning areas like the morgue or COVID-19 units. You will be working with cleaning chemicals to clean up blood and bodily fluids. Candidates must be prepared for new challenges, possess great communication skills, and be comfortable working independently. A background check and drug screen are conducted upon offer. Timely completion of onboarding is required, or the job offer will be rescinded. All employees are required to receive their annual Flu Vaccine; exemption processes can be discussed with the recruiter.

Requirements

  • Requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision.
  • Must be able to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with others by phone and verbally.
  • Must be able to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and use of cleaning chemicals.
  • Must be able to fill out chemical identification stickers.
  • Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
  • An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
  • Employees working at Olive Branch Senior Center must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
  • Must complete onboarding in a timely manner or job offer will be rescinded.
  • Required for all Banner Health employees to receive their annual Flu Vaccine.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in either a hospital setting, or institutional environment is not required.
  • Previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques is preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures.
  • Plans the completion of daily cleaning tasks.
  • Empties hampers and transports soiled linen.
  • Empties trash containers and removes all trash.
  • Empties all medical waste containers, including sharps.
  • Inventories, restocks and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap, etcetera, located in all assigned areas of the facility.
  • Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel as repairs become necessary.
  • Protects equipment from damage by proper use; properly logs out and in equipment that has been used.
  • May perform special projects such as: windows washing, wall washing, removing heavily soiled items or furnishings.
  • Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors.
  • Meets or exceeds goals for customer service satisfaction.
  • Works as a member of the environmental service team to ensure the safety, health, and high morale of patients, visitors and staff by helping to provide a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment with minimal interference to others.
