About The Position

The Evidence Intake Specialist is responsible for the intake, processing, documentation, and quality assurance of electronic devices received for forensic examination. This role requires strict adherence to evidence handling procedures, chain-of-custody requirements, and forensic best practices. The successful candidate will ensure devices are accurately photographed, logged, inventoried, processed, and prepared for forensic analysis while maintaining the integrity of all evidence. The Intake Specialist will also support quality assurance efforts and assist with maintaining forensic laboratory systems and equipment to industry standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in handling, tracking, or inventorying electronic devices, evidence, assets, or sensitive materials.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, databases, and data entry applications.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in law enforcement, corrections, digital forensics, evidence management, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with chain-of-custody procedures and evidence management systems.
  • Experience with inventory management, quality assurance, or asset tracking processes.
  • Knowledge of mobile devices, digital media, and forensic laboratory operations.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process incoming electronic devices in accordance with established forensic and evidence handling procedures.
  • Photograph, document, and accurately log devices into ADOC evidence and case management systems.
  • Execute approved screening and inventory processes for all incoming devices.
  • Maintain an expected processing rate of approximately 20 devices per day.
  • Repackage devices identified as having evidentiary value following forensic evaluation procedures.
  • Ensure evidence integrity and chain-of-custody standards are maintained throughout the intake process.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews on processed devices and related documentation.
  • Conduct required updates and maintenance activities on forensic laboratory equipment and systems.
  • Ensure forensic tools, systems, and procedures comply with industry’s best practices and operational standards.
  • Support forensic laboratory operations and assist with process improvement initiatives as required.
