About The Position

The Department of Public Safety, State Bureau of Investigation is looking for an Evidence Control Manager to oversee all aspects of the department's evidence program. As a team Leader, the Evidence Control Manager will supervise the entire evidence system and all evidence technicians. This job requires strong leadership skills, administrative skills, organization skills, and physical abilities. This position is located in Salt Lake County.

  • Work experience in a supervisory role
  • Work experience with evidence intake, evidence processing, and proper disposal of property
  • Are current employees of the Department of Public Safety
  • Knowledge and experience of operating evidence software and/or Spillman Flex
  • Institutional knowledge regarding state & federal statutory and administrative regulations governing the collection and storage of evidence

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate proper handling of evidence and property by all employees.
  • Conduct inspections and routine auditing for all evidence rooms.
  • Ensure proper disposition and disposal of all evidence and property for the Department.
  • Act as a liaison with the State Crime Lab.
  • Evaluate evidence facilities to meet the required standards for security and functionality.
  • Ensure evidence technicians have proper training and equipment.
  • Conduct annual department-wide training for all Evidence Technicians.
  • Provide training to Department personnel regarding the appropriate logging, packaging, documenting, and storage of property and evidence.
  • Serve as a department representative to state and local associations involved with the management of property and evidence.
  • Stay consistently aware of local, state, and federal law involving property and evidence handling.
  • Recommend and facilitate appropriate changes.
  • Maintain clean and orderly property storage facilities.
