About The Position

The Events Sales Manager is a multi-talented individual who acts as part salesperson and part events manager. This role involves prospecting, selling, contracting, and coordinating corporate and social events within the hotel's dedicated event space to meet revenue goals. The Events Sales Manager leads client relationships and community involvement, while also collaborating effectively with all hotel departments. They coordinate service standards, food and beverage minimums, and forecasting with the event operations team and partner with the Director of Sales.

Requirements

  • Current, legal and unrestricted ability to work in the United States.
  • Previous hotel or event space experience.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of previous event sales experience.
  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English with clients, guests, vendors, teammates/management, in person, in writing and on the telephone.
  • Proficient in MS 365 and Delphi Salesforce.
  • Great team player with the ability to create excellent working relationships across the group.
  • Collaborative approach with all departments, particularly food & beverage and the sales, marketing and events team.
  • Ability to break down barriers and resolve potential conflicts swiftly and effortlessly.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to all levels of management.
  • Creativity and innovation are essential.
  • Ability to think outside the box and address all obstacles with a completely fresh approach.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and over deliver wherever possible.
  • Ability to think on their feet and use their initiative to solve problems and deliver solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans for corporate and social catering to achieve both personal and property revenue targets.
  • Engage in networking organizations and represent Virgin Hotels Collection.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers through sales activities like sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, and trade shows.
  • Negotiate and close contracts with clients, detailing service agreements, pricing, and event requirements.
  • Understand the overall market, including competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, and supply and demand.
  • Conduct site visits and tastings, creating compelling proposals and vision boards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for sales and service, aligning program requirements and customer expectations.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of catering events, managing logistics such as staffing, setup, and equipment needs.
  • Create accurate BEOs and participate in weekly BEO, resume, and sales meetings.
  • Manage vendor relationships (florists, DJs/Bands, decor companies, photographers), ensuring COIs, load-in/out schedules, and compliance.
  • Lead pre-con and post-con meetings to ensure seamless event execution, guest satisfaction, billing accuracy, and future bookings.
  • Specialize in problem-solving, particularly concerning client relations and event management.
  • Upsell and cross-sell enhancements.
  • Partner with the culinary team to design innovative menus and create banquet event orders that align with brand standards.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of food and beverage, including preparation, presentation, and service standards.
  • Maintain accurate files, CRM records, and documentation.
  • Develop professional skills through Virgin Hotels organized training programs.
