About The Position

The Department of Physics plays a pivotal role in the advancing of knowledge, nurturing the next generation of physicists and making a lasting impact on the world of physics. The College of Natural Sciences at UT Austin strives to foster a work environment that enables all employees to contribute at the highest possible level to support the mission of the University. This position reports to the Physics Department Events Coordinator and will assist with the coordination, publicity, and execution of physics department events (meetings, seminars, luncheons, conferences, etc.). The majority of work will be in-person, but occasional work-from-home opportunities are possible.

Requirements

  • Must be a student attending The University of Texas at Austin.
  • Must have a work study award for the 26/27 academic year.
  • Must be able to follow verbal directions and documented event plans.
  • Must be able to lift packages up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to set up tables/seating.
  • Must be able to frequently traverse campus.

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience with social media content planning.
  • Some experience with graphic design programs such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience in writing to convey information and for publicizing events.
  • Flexibility in weekly scheduled hours to assist with day and evening events.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination, publicity, and execution of physics department events (meetings, seminars, luncheons, conferences, etc).
  • Follow verbal directions and documented event plans to assist supervisor with executing events successfully.
  • Assist supervisor with executing events successfully.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Lift packages up to 20 lbs.
  • Set up tables/seating.
  • Frequently traverse campus.
  • Be trained to use Smartsheet, Canvas, and Asana to assist in event planning.
