About The Position

Moonlight Studios Chicago is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented individual to support event operations and keep our venue clean, organized, and well maintained. Event portering is the primary responsibility of this position. During event setup, guest hours, and breakdown, this employee supports the venue team by maintaining clean, safe, guest-ready spaces. On days without events, the focus shifts to building cleaning, deep cleaning, routine upkeep, and basic maintenance. This is a hands-on venue support role. It is not a Project Manager or audiovisual production position with our in-house AV company.

  • Previous porter, custodial, housekeeping, building maintenance, hospitality, or event-venue experience is preferred.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work with limited supervision.
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, presentation, and detail.
  • Comfortable performing hands-on cleaning and basic maintenance tasks.
  • Able to manage routine tasks independently and adjust priorities when event needs arise.
  • Professional demeanor and good communication skills.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, late nights, and occasional holidays as event schedules require.
  • Reliable transportation to and from Moonlight Studios Chicago.

  • Monitor and empty trash and recycling receptacles before they become full.
  • Help ensure vendors follow the venue’s garbage, recycling, and dumpster procedures.
  • Respond promptly and discreetly to spills, broken glass, and other cleaning needs.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, wipe down surfaces, and spot-clean as needed.
  • Assist with pre-event preparation, post-event cleanup, and venue resets.
  • Help move and reset furniture, remove debris, and return venue areas to their standard condition.
  • Work respectfully around guests, clients, vendors, caterers, and production crews.
  • Provide courteous assistance when approached by guests and refer questions to the appropriate venue team member.
  • Complete assigned opening, event, and closing checklists.
  • Perform scheduled building cleaning and upkeep on non-event days and between events.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors throughout the building.
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, fixtures, and floors.
  • Clean doors, interior glass, counters, furniture, and other surfaces.
  • Dust accessible surfaces and keep storage, utility, and back-of-house areas organized.
  • Complete periodic deep cleaning to keep the venue ready for upcoming events.
  • Maintain clean entrances, sidewalks, and loading areas by removing litter and debris.
  • Keep cleaning equipment and supplies organized, maintained, and properly stored.
  • Monitor supply levels and notify management when items need to be reordered.
  • Perform basic building upkeep, such as minor paint touch-ups, tightening loose hardware, and replacing accessible light bulbs, as trained and directed.
  • Identify and report property damage, leaks, plumbing issues, equipment problems, and other conditions requiring repair.
  • Refer repairs requiring specialized skills or licensed trades to venue management.
  • Follow venue safety procedures and instructions for cleaning products, tools, and equipment.
  • Perform other related cleaning, maintenance, and venue-support duties as assigned.
