About The Position

The Event Planner conceptualizes event theme, itinerary, etc. Develops and manages event budgets. Oversees the implementation, execution, and follow-up for events hosted on- and off-campus. Creates invitations. Selects sites. Creates seating arrangements. Negotiates with florist, caterers, event space staff, print shops, etc. Manages on-site contract staff, students, and etc. The Event Planner has full responsibility for planning and implementing all events occurring both on and off campus for the benefit of the College. This position is demanding and is vital to the overall image of the college to VIP guests, donors, alumni, potential and enrolled students, parents, and guest lecturers. This position requires professionalism, organization, creativity, attention to detail, ability to work well with others and excellent written and oral communication skills. This person must be able to handle high stress situations and still uphold the high standards of professionalism required by the College of Business. This position will design events that uphold the image of the College and the C&BA Dean's office. Work will require weekends, nights and early mornings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of event planning or coordination experience; OR master's degree.
  • Must have valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire.
  • Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies.
  • Proficient in the usage of personal computers and standard application software (email, word processing, spreadsheet programs).
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good public relation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to create invitations, programs, place cards, etc. in InDesign is preferred.
