About The Position

Riggs Washington DC is seeking an Event Operations Supervisor to oversee the setup, execution, and breakdown of various events including banquets, meetings, weddings, and special occasions. This role involves reviewing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), conducting pre-shift meetings, ensuring spaces are set to hotel standards, and monitoring service to guarantee a high-quality guest experience. The supervisor will act as the main point of contact during events, liaising with various hotel departments and responding to guest needs. Additionally, the role includes supervising banquet staff, assisting with training and development, supporting scheduling and labor management, and fostering a positive team environment while ensuring compliance with hotel policies and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1–2 years of banquet, restaurant, or hotel event operations experience required.
  • Strong understanding of banquet service standards and event execution.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the setup, execution, and breakdown of banquet functions, meetings, weddings, and special events.
  • Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and ensure all event details are executed accurately.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings with banquet staff to communicate event timelines, service expectations, VIP details, and operational needs.
  • Ensure banquet rooms and event spaces are set according to hotel standards and client specifications.
  • Monitor service throughout events to ensure high-quality guest experience and timely execution.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for banquet staff during events and communicate effectively with the kitchen, culinary, stewarding, audio visual, and hotel leadership teams.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, concerns, and service recovery opportunities.
  • Supervise banquet servers, bartenders, housepersons, and support staff during events.
  • Assist with training, coaching, and development of banquet team members.
  • Support scheduling, staffing, and labor management to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Ensure team members comply with hotel policies, grooming standards, attendance expectations, and safety procedures.
