About The Position

Mercor is seeking an Event Lead to own the company's events strategy and execution end-to-end. This role is crucial for deepening relationships with frontier labs and enterprise customers, running company conferences, recruiting talent, and bringing the team together. The Event Lead will be responsible for setting the strategy, managing the annual calendar across various event types, and ensuring a high-quality experience for all attendees. This role requires a blend of strategic planning and hands-on operational execution, working with vendors, cross-functional teams, and managing all event details. The goal is to ensure events convert into meaningful relationships, pipeline, and talent acquisition, with a focus on measurement and creating repeatable playbooks for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise and strong convictions regarding event success factors, with the confidence to challenge stakeholders.
  • An entrepreneurial and execution-oriented mindset; proactive in identifying and implementing leverage points.
  • High energy and a willingness to handle operational details and run-of-show.
  • Strong analytical and planning skills, with the ability to translate ambiguity into clear, cross-functional plans.
  • Ability to present plans effectively to various teams, including marketing and recruiting.
  • Resilience and adaptability in ambiguous situations; ability to plan effectively but also perform without a pre-existing plan.
  • Professionalism and polish suitable for representing Mercor to founders, lab leaders, and senior executives.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with events in the AI, human data, or Bay Area startup scene.
  • Strong design sense, including taste in menu selection, aesthetic shaping, and providing feedback on vendor graphics.
  • A client-facing, outgoing personality, comfortable being a visible presence at events.
  • A network within the AI ecosystem, including labs, researchers, and founders.
  • Experience in establishing an owned event or program from its inception.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the events strategy and annual calendar across enterprise and human-data go-to-market (GTM), customer-lab GTM, recruiting events, and internal events.
  • Define the creative vision and quality standards for all events, ensuring they are impactful and memorable.
  • Oversee Mercor's own conferences (e.g., APEX Summit), aiming for approximately 4 per year, and manage the company's presence at key industry conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML).
  • Organize high-signal executive and customer programs, including intimate dinners and partner roundtables, timed to Mercor's significant milestones.
  • Plan and execute recruiting events, such as university programs and hackathons, to attract elite talent.
  • Coordinate internal events, ranging from team dinners to company-wide offsites.
  • Handle hands-on execution, including vendor management, coordination with marketing, recruiting, and workplace teams, and ensuring all events are organized and on schedule.
  • Collaborate with GTM, recruiting, and brand partners to ensure events lead to tangible outcomes like relationships, pipeline, and talent acquisition.
  • Implement measurement frameworks and develop repeatable playbooks to enhance event effectiveness over time.
