About The Position

The Events and Janitorial Support team ensures the cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of facilities and public spaces across the historic 120-acre Fort Worth Botanic Garden (FWBG). This role supports events by preparing and maintaining venues, assisting with setups and breakdowns, and providing routine janitorial services to enhance the guest experience and uphold the Garden’s standards of excellence.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of janitorial procedures, cleaning products, and equipment use.
  • Familiarity with event setup and equipment such as tables, tents, and AV systems.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills to balance cleaning duties with event preparation.
  • Ability to learn and adhere to FWBG and guest service policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices including use of PPE.
  • Physically able to perform manual labor tasks, lift 50 pounds, and work in varying weather conditions and terrains.
  • Basic computer and mobile phone app skills for benefits enrollment, time reporting, and electronic communication.
  • Maintain a current Texas Driver’s License.
  • Possess and be willing to use a mobile device for timekeeping and business communications via calls/texts/emails/Teams’ messages.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to changing schedules including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Ability to support and participate in outdoor FWBG public exhibitions and events in Texas weather.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of restrooms in indoor and outdoor areas, buildings, offices, and event spaces.
  • Set up and break down tables, chairs, tents, and other equipment for public and private events.
  • Assist with basic maintenance of janitorial and event equipment, ensuring it remains in good working condition.
  • Monitor indoor and outdoor trash, recycling, and compost bins, ensuring timely collection and disposal.
  • Conduct routine inspections of public spaces and restrooms to ensure cleanliness, safety, and adequate inventory.
  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules, event setups, and supplies used.
  • Collaborate with events team members, horticulture team members, and contractors to ensure spaces are properly prepared for programs, weddings, and other special events.
  • Work with facilities staff to address issues requiring additional maintenance or repair.
  • Provide excellent service to rental clients and guests by addressing concerns or directing them to the appropriate team member.
  • Participate in team initiatives and contribute to a positive environment.
  • Train new staff or volunteers as needed.
  • Communicate with the VP of Guest Experience regarding supply needs, equipment repairs, or scheduling adjustments.
  • Report any safety hazards, damages, or facility issues promptly for resolution.
  • Provide updates during events to ensure smooth operations and quick problem resolution.
