About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Event Host III serves as the lead on events, ensuring exceptional program quality, safety, and customer experience. This role provides leadership to Event Hosts, oversees event execution from start to finish, and serves as the primary point of contact for members, guests, and staff during assigned shifts.

Requirements

  • Minimum age 20 required.
  • Highschool Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience required.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Must have a passion for working with young children.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as lead for events, overseeing all aspects of event execution and guest experience.
  • Supervises, directs, and supports Event Host I and II staff, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and program standards.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for parents, guardians, and participants, addressing questions, concerns, and escalations professionally.
  • Plans, coordinates, and executes event activities, ensuring high-quality, engaging, and safe experiences.
  • Provides coaching, guidance, and real-time feedback to staff to support performance and development.
  • Ensures proper staff coverage, assignments, and transitions throughout the event.
  • Leads pre-event briefings and post-event debriefs with staff to ensure preparedness and continuous improvement.
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance programming, improve operations, and elevate the member experience.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, initiative, and sound judgment in high-energy and fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrates a friendly, courteous, and professional manner with volunteers, staff, parents, and participants.
  • Understands, articulates, and enforces YMCA policies and procedures in a positive way by giving safety briefings and ensuring that all policies are being adhered to.
  • Maintains accurate program records, incident reports, and equipment inventory; communicates needs to leadership.
  • Improvises quickly and appropriately when faced with unexpected circumstances, to better meet the needs of members and their children.
  • Completes all required compliance and professional development training annually or as assigned.
  • Support other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department.
