About The Position

Perform responsible and legal alcohol service to guests over the age of 21 for contracted events at The Madison Event Center and Hotel Covington. This role requires a guest-focused approach, including welcoming guests, providing information about services, setting up and cleaning event areas, and assisting team members. The Event Bartender will handle various event elements such as tables, chairs, linens, and tableware, while adhering to safe food handling guidelines and managing payments. Attendance at employee meetings and willingness to perform other assigned duties are also expected.

Requirements

  • Must be 20 years and 1 day of age.
  • Must be able to work weekends.
  • Must be Serv-Safe or T.I.P.S certified.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Punctual, Energetic, motivated, and works well with team members.
  • Excellent oral communication and listening skills and ability to follow directions.
  • Be willing to work until the job is complete and perform other duties assigned.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours).
  • Be able to reach, bend, and safely lift and maneuver up to 30 pounds and move up to 100 pounds with assistance.

  • Do not leave the bar unattended or without permission of The Captain.

Responsibilities

  • Perform responsible and legal alcohol service to guests over the age of 21.
  • Remain guest focused while performing all assigned duties before, during or after an event.
  • Welcome and greet guests upon entering The Madison/Hotel Covington.
  • Provide information about our food, beverages and other functions and services.
  • Set up, tear down, and clean banquet areas for events.
  • Assist other team members with event duties.
  • Handle tables, chairs, linens, tableware and décor carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
  • Follow safe food handling guidelines.
  • Handle payment from guests.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and provide suggestions for improvement.
  • Serve all guests promptly.
  • Notify a Manager or Event Captain if bar lines develop and assistance is required.
  • Check proper identification for all guests requesting alcohol.
  • Refuse service to any guest that has consumed too much alcohol.
  • Maintain cleanliness of bar and service areas before, during and after the event.
  • Manage starting and ending inventory sheets and record any items added to the bar during the event.
  • Count kegs and check bag-in-the box products before and after the event.
  • Remove all empty kegs and keep the beer cooler organized.
  • Anticipate guest count and open wine bottles as needed.
