About The Position

The Evening Janitor at Edelman Fossil Park & Museum plays a vital role in ensuring that our museum and park remain pristine and welcoming for all visitors. In this position, you will provide thorough cleaning services after museum hours based upon a weekly schedule of specific areas/services. This role is ideal for someone with cleaning experience, a keen eye for detail, the ability to work under limited supervision and a commitment to creating a positive visitor experience.

Requirements

• Prior experience in general cleaning, custodial, or event support roles.
• Familiarity with basic cleaning procedures and equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members, and supervisors.
• Ability to read and follow written cleaning procedures, safety instructions, and product labels.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems as they arise.
• Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
• A dedication to the museum’s educational mission.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a museum, park, nature center, zoo, or similar environment is a plus.
• Experience with specialized equipment such as floor machines is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning tasks based upon weekly schedules and defined procedures of specific required tasks.
• Maintain all assigned areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Ensure restrooms are sanitized, properly stocked, and orderly.
• Generate maintenance work requests in response to discovered needs.
• Maintain an adequate level of cleaning supplies and paper products through an inventory process and notify supervisor when supplies are required to be ordered.
• Provide important information to other Janitorial/Porter staff through established methods.
• Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
• Ensure all interactions with guests are cordial and helpful.
• Minimize interference with guest enjoyment while performing assigned duties.
