About The Position

The Evaluation Director provides leadership across MCPER's evaluation portfolio, directing the design, implementation, and reporting of externally funded program evaluations and applied research studies. Reporting to MCPER’s Senior Associate Director, this position holds primary responsibility for complex, multi-site, federally- and state-funded evaluation projects, serves as a senior methodological resource to the division, and provides leadership and mentorship to evaluation directors and project coordinators. This is a senior-level position distinguished by breadth of portfolio, methodological complexity, and division-wide leadership responsibility.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education, educational psychology, evaluation, quantitative methods, or a closely related field
  • Experience (at least 15 years) directing externally funded program evaluations or applied research studies, including federally funded projects.
  • Expertise in evaluation design, mixed-methods and quantitative analysis, and the reporting of findings to funders and stakeholders.
  • Record of leadership on complex, multi-site evaluation or research projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience communicating with clients, funders, and stakeholder groups.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in educational psychology, evaluation, quantitative methods, or a closely related field.
  • Record of leadership on federally funded technical assistance centers.
  • Experience serving as a senior methodological resource across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience mentoring and supervising evaluation staff and project coordinators.
  • Experience managing client and stakeholder relationships on large-scale, multi-year evaluation contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategic direction for evaluation plans across MCPER's complex, multi-site, federally- and state-funded projects.
  • Oversee data collection, data analysis, and reporting methodology across the division's evaluation portfolio.
  • Serve as senior point of contact for high-level client and stakeholder relationships on the division's largest and most complex evaluation contracts.
  • Coordinate cross-project communication across the MCPER evaluation team, including data collection and data management staff.
  • Monitor evaluation quality and faithful implementation across the division's evaluation portfolio.
  • Supervise and mentor evaluation directors and project coordinators across the division.
  • Serve as the division's senior resource for resolving complex or high-risk evaluation issues.
