About The Position

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), specifically the Division of Family and Child Health (FCH), is seeking an Evaluation Coordinator for the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Equity Unit. This role will support the unit's evaluation activities by providing technical, administrative, and research support. The DOHMH has a long history of setting public health standards and is dedicated to improving the health of all New Yorkers, with a focus on reducing health disparities and advancing equity. The Division of Family and Child Health works on a diverse portfolio, including maternal, infant, and reproductive health, early intervention, and school health. Requirements

  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, or environmental science or in public health.
  • Three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization (if possessing a master's degree).
  • One year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization (if possessing a doctorate degree).
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to a doctorate degree with one year of experience or a master's degree with three years of experience.
  • At least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience.
  • Two years as a City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted for the experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Academic training in epidemiology (MPH or MS), with an emphasis on sexual and reproductive health
  • Strong quantitative analytic skills (qualitative skills are desired)
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze data using statistical software such as SAS and R
  • Strong organizational skills with good follow-through to complete assignments within specified timeframe
  • Strong written, verbal and editing skills, including summaries, reports, manuscripts, and presentations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Tableau, and ArcGIS

Responsibilities

  • Support SRHE Unit evaluation activities by providing technical, administrative, and research support for all aspects of the evaluation
  • Manage all data collection and research efforts, including overseeing data entry, providing assistance in developing and implementing data collection tools, designing and maintaining databases using Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, and the performance measures platform provided by the funder, cleaning, manipulating, and analyzing data using various statistical software packages such as SAS and R, demonstrating familiarity with geocoding techniques, and preparing IRB applications, as needed
  • Liaise and work closely with schools, community and school-based clinics, and other implementation partners to facilitate data collection efforts
  • Assist with the preparation of periodic written reports to monitor the progress of all evaluation objectives, as well as generate manuscripts and presentations
  • Conduct literature reviews, as needed
  • Remain current on the latest data, trends, and best practices in adolescent sexual and reproductive health
  • Present and disseminate data on behalf of the unit at conferences, meetings, and other venues
  • Fulfill various data requests for program and other internal agency staff
  • Assist with other duties, tasks, and special projects as may be required by the NYCDOHMH
