About The Position

Princeton University Press (PUP) is pleased to offer an internship in the European Publicity Office for the 2026/27 Academic Year, providing an exciting introduction to working in academic publishing. The European Publicity Office oversees outreach to media and journal outlets to secure publicity coverage for the books we work on- from reviews, interviews, op-eds etc- across print media, digital and broadcast outlets, as well as securing event opportunities at festivals. The Publicity Intern will get the opportunity to experience the execution of the full cycle of a publicity plan, while executing a variety of tasks to provide administrative and research support to departmental staff. Under close supervision of the Publicist, the Publicity Intern is responsible for providing assistance to the Publicity team based in the European Office.

Requirements

  • A genuine interest in and intellectual engagement with the publication of scholarly books and particularly an interest in publicity.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain excellent professional demeanour and be able to convey information accurately.
  • Excellent time-management and organisational skills, and the ability to manage detail-oriented projects with overlapping deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently toward the collaborative and common goals of the Press.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Computer proficiency, including with databases, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Enthusiasm for collaboration, and commitment to PUP’s professional code of conduct.
  • Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom.
  • PUP will not attempt to obtain Immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update publicity database to ensure current contacts are up-to-date, and that new contacts are added in a timely manner
  • Create press releases and press release emails for select titles
  • Conduct research projects for Publicity Team
  • Saving and logging of review coverage into publicity SharePoint and database and uploading pull quotes to Biblio
  • Fulfilling mail requests from the office
  • Assist in the sending of the seasonal catalogue and other physical and digital mailers to external media and journal contacts
  • Log review copy requests from media contacts
  • Research and prepare for title launch and sales conference meetings and any other relevant meetings to the publicity department
  • Occasional attendance at author events, as appropriate
  • Complete other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organisation
  • Actively support an inclusive environment to foster a sense of belonging for colleagues
