About The Position

The ETL Developer maintains and modernizes data integration workflows across legacy and cloud platforms. This role supports existing ETL in the on-premise data platforms while transitioning data pipelines to modern, cloud-based patterns aligned with cloud-based platforms supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred, but not required) in computer science, engineering, or related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant data engineering experience.
  • US Citizen. Must comply with FAA System and access requirements

  • If you do not currently meet the ID requirements outlined, you must be willing and able to update your current forms of ID in a timely manner to complete the suitability process successfully.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferable in-depth knowledge of Palantir Foundry, including its ontology, data lineage, pipeline development, and data governance features.
  • Preferred (but not required) experience in regulated industries (aviation, healthcare, government, finance).
  • Preferred (but not required) familiarity with data catalog and metadata management tools, preferably including Foundry’s data ontology and asset cataloging.

Responsibilities

  • Experience using PL/SQL, System Applications and Products (SAP) Data Services, Python, SQL, Airflow, and Glue.
  • Experience supporting ETL systems in enterprise or regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and data architecture principles.
  • Proficiency in relational and non-relational database systems (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Familiarity with cloud data services, especially AWS (e.g., Redshift, Glue, S3, EMR) and Azure (e.g., Data Lake, Synapse, Data Factory).
  • Knowledge of big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka).
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts, star/snowflake schemas, and data mart design.
  • Awareness of data governance, data privacy, security, and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), FAA if applicable).
  • Familiarity with programming languages used in data engineering (e.g., Python, SQL, Scala, Java).
  • Knowledge of workflow orchestration and automation tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Luigi).
  • Ability to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for batch and real-time processing, preferably including within the Palantir Foundry platform.
  • Skilled in developing robust ETL/ELT processes to ingest, cleanse, transform, and load data from diverse sources preferably using Foundry’s code workbooks, pipelines, and data transformation tools.
  • Proficiency in writing efficient, maintainable SQL, Python, and preferably Foundry-specific logic for data manipulation and integration.
  • Ability to optimize data storage, retrieval, and indexing for performance and cost-effectiveness, preferably leveraging both Foundry and cloud-native solutions.
  • Experience in integrating data solutions with AI/ML platforms and analytics tools for downstream consumption, preferably including leveraging Foundry’s integration capabilities.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving data pipeline and infrastructure issues preferably within Palantir Foundry and other environments.
  • Proficient in implementing data quality, monitoring, and validation frameworks preferably using Foundry’s tools and APIs.
  • Experience with version control (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (e.g., Docker) for deploying data engineering solutions.
  • Ability to document data flows, schemas, and engineering processes for reproducibility and compliance, preferably including using Foundry’s collaborative documentation features.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with data scientists, analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders, including cross-functional teams..
  • Ability to translate business and analytics requirements into scalable data engineering solutions preferably within Palantir Foundry and broader cloud ecosystems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver results within deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain awareness of emerging data engineering technologies and best practices, preferably including continuous learning on Foundry platform updates.
  • Ability to ensure data security, integrity, and compliance in all data engineering activities, preferably leveraging Foundry’s data governance features.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
