About The Position

CGI Federal is seeking a mid-level ETL & Data Migration Engineer to support data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading within a major federal modernization program. The role contributes to large-scale data migration operations by executing ETL workflows, preparing data for cloud ingestion, resolving transformation issues, and meeting data quality standards. The engineer works with senior migration staff and technical teams to deliver reliable, accurate, and repeatable data operations throughout mission-critical modernization cycles. The position is located in Huntsville, Alabama. The engineer handles structured and unstructured datasets migrating from legacy systems to cloud environments, supports migration readiness and cutover activities, monitors data pipelines, and verifies transformed data. The role also involves collaborating across engineering, QA, cloud, and product teams; participating in agile planning activities; and maintaining documentation and status reports for repeatable migration cycles.

  • Support automation improvements that increase the repeatability and reliability of ETL operations.
  • Prepare datasets for migration cycles, including pre-migration readiness checks and staging activities.
  • Assist senior engineers during large-scale extraction events, test cycles, and cutover operations.
  • Monitor pipelines and perform basic performance validation during data movement operations.
  • Verify the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of transformed data.
  • Identify defects or anomalies and work with engineering and QA teams on root cause analysis.
  • Document recurring issues and support improvements to validation processes and quality controls.
