U.S. Bank is seeking a proficient ETL Architect with data architecture experience to contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives. Leads and consults on the design, development, and implementation of the architecture and metadata repository for extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) solutions. Provides technical consulting to development teams during design and development for highly complex or critical projects. Identifies opportunities for new initiatives. Recommends changes to increase scalability and robustness of ETL platforms and solutions. Defines policies and best practices for ETL data manipulation functions. Evaluates new tools and techniques and makes recommendations to improve real-time and batch data access, transformation and movement across heterogeneous technologies and platforms. Determines organizational strategies for data integrity validation processes, optimizing data throughput/accessibility, restart ability, and error-handling for tools to deliver ETL solutions. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least 6 years experience with design, development, automation, and support of applications to extract, transform, and load data.
  • At least 9 years experience within a total information technology (IT) environment.

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing business products and technology to define target/future state architecture optimized for business agility, innovation, performance, resiliency, cost, security, using both Cloud Native and On-prem solutions.
  • Proven track record leading cross-functional engineering teams, enforcing best practices, and aligning technical delivery with strategic architecture principles.
  • Leadership experience driving technology transformation, modernization, and large-scale program delivery, preferably in the banking/finance industry supporting high‑volume payments products in a multi-tenant environment.
  • Proven track record in digital transformation, Data Lakehouse architecture, cloud migration (Azure/AWS), application engineering and IT program management.
  • Proven leadership implementing data governance, security, and compliance controls aligned to PCI DSS, SOX, GDPR, and regulatory expectations.
  • Hands-on experience with multi-zone data lake patterns (raw, cleaned/enhanced, curated/trusted, consumption), optimized storage formats, metadata-driven ingestion, and analytics-ready data models.
  • Enables BI, reporting, customer extracts, data science, and other use cases at enterprise scale.
  • Expertise in real‑time and batch data ingestion architectures (Kafka/Event Hubs, Spark, Delta Lake, etc.), including leading design and management of tools/processes/services for comprehensive data ingestion and integration.
  • Experience leading the design and implementation of enterprise data governance frameworks, including data lineage, cataloging, business glossaries, and data quality controls.
  • Ensures end-to-end traceability from source to consumption, improving data trust, auditability, and regulatory compliance.
