About The Position

Cherry Coatings is seeking a highly skilled Estimator to join its Industrial and Commercial Paint Team. The family-owned commercial paint contractor provides architectural, industrial, and maintenance coating services. The Estimator analyzes project drawings and specifications, performs quantity take-offs, prepares estimates and proposals, and supports preconstruction planning. The role also involves attending job-site walks, coordinating with field and operations teams, tracking bids, organizing subcontractor quotations, and building relationships with new and existing customers. The position requires flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment with variable hours in both office and field settings.

Requirements

• High fluency in reading plans, specifications, and related documents.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain focus and deliver against deadlines.
• Experience and familiarity with the construction industry.
• Competence with PlanSwift, PlanGrid, On-Screen Takeoff, Building Connected, and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Above-average written and verbal communication skills.
• Above-average math skills.
• Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment with variable working hours in office and field settings.
• Interest in varied challenges, from takeoff to sales.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate of an engineering, architectural, or construction management program.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings and specifications thoroughly.
• Attend job-site walks to review existing conditions and partner with field teams.
• Understand contractual terms and conditions.
• Prepare clear, detailed quantity take-offs.
• Assemble estimates and proposals.
• Track and follow up on bids.
• Organize subcontractor quotations and ensure required documents are accurate.
• Draft project budgets and schedules for review.
• Assemble preconstruction reviews with the Operations team.
• Engage, develop, and influence business with new and existing customers.
• Attend and participate in business meetings, industry conferences, and networking activities.
