About The Position

The Estimator position is responsible for the development of accurate and timely estimates for both private and public works projects. This role involves developing accurate estimates and cost information for landscape, irrigation, and related site improvement projects. The Estimator will perform quantity takeoffs, solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor participation, prepare bid submissions, evaluate project risks, and maintain current pricing information. Collaboration with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams is essential for project pursuits, startup, and handoff. The role also requires demonstrating Griffith Company values through ethical conduct, professionalism, and effective communication.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of landscape construction, irrigation systems, and estimating principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Ability to perform quantity takeoffs, analyze costs, and develop accurate estimates.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction estimating software.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior estimating experience in landscape construction, irrigation construction, site development, or related construction disciplines preferred.
  • Experience preparing estimates and supporting commercial landscape and irrigation projects preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate estimates and cost information for landscape, irrigation, and related site improvement projects.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and maintain the estimating data necessary to support reliable pricing and budgeting decisions.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and coordinate supplier and subcontractor participation to support complete and competitive bids.
  • Prepare and support bid submissions, including proposal documentation, scope review, and estimating deliverables.
  • Evaluate project risks and support preconstruction planning activities that contribute to successful project execution.
  • Maintain current pricing information, estimating records, and supporting documentation related to project pursuits.
  • Collaborate with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to support project pursuits, project startup, and successful project handoff.

  • Other duties as assigned.
