Franklin Building Supply (FBS) is a 100% Employee Owned lumber and building material company with over 45 years of experience and locations across Idaho and Nevada. We supply materials for home construction, excluding plumbing and electrical, and serve professional home builders. FBS also installs a variety of products and manufactures trusses, cabinets, doors, and granite countertops. This Estimator position is primarily responsible for taking compiled product lists and quoting them for customers, assisting retail customers with projects, answering technical questions, and troubleshooting Door/Millwork issues.

Requirements

Some understanding of the components associated with the structure of a home.
Capable of managing time well enough to complete tasks quickly and productively.
Ability to recognize problems and assist in suggesting and executing solutions.
Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to prioritize tasks, remain patient with distractions, and manage time effectively.
Willing to be versatile, understand direction, and follow through on assignments.
Ability to use simple math to calculate pricing and quantities accurately.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and will be verified through the federal E-Verify system.

Nice To Haves

Basic understanding of finish carpentry and millwork products.
Past involvement in the building materials or construction industry.
Experience with point-of-sale (POS) or estimating software.

Responsibilities

Review compiled product lists and develop accurate quotes tailored to each customer’s project needs.
Create new estimates and revise existing ones as project scope or product selections change.
Communicate with the sales team to ensure correct product selection and pricing on all quotes.
Work with various vendors to source and price out products competitively.
Develop and maintain familiarity with finish materials and what it takes to produce them.
Interact with retail customers and subcontractors in a friendly, professional manner.
Answer technical questions and troubleshoot Door/Millwork issues for customers and the sales team.
Always work in a safe and professional manner, supporting a secure environment for staff and customers.
Follow all Franklin Building Supply policies and procedures.
Support Franklin’s vision, mission, and values, including safety, lean principles, and employees-first philosophy.
Participate in scheduled meetings and training sessions.
Maintain a customer service-oriented approach in all interactions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
