About The Position

This position is responsible for performing estimates as assigned in a timely and accurate manner in the context of the Company’s long-term goals and values. The role also involves project management during the design phase of a project’s life cycle, including communication with the owner, attending meetings with the design team, providing cost input during the design phase, leading value engineering efforts, and coordinating possible changes with subcontractors, understanding cost changes associated with scope changes.

Requirements

  • Fundamental construction knowledge
  • Regular lifting of materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to see and read on computer screens, contracts, and other documentation with accuracy to ensure clear interpretation and attention to detail.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods, walk, use hands and arms, talk, hear, bend, stretch, reach, kneel, squat, climb, and view a computer monitor while sitting or standing for extended periods.
  • This position utilizes endurance and the ability to walk outdoors for extended periods, including stairs and elevated structures and scaffolding.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantity takeoffs and create detail estimate and pricing
  • Check bid documents for inconsistencies and clarify with architect/engineer
  • Develop a thorough understanding of appropriate specification sections
  • Coordinate with appropriate subcontractors and vendors and develop a rapport
  • Prepare bid packages to facilitate pricing
  • Make site visits, including photographic surveys; coordinate visits with key subs
  • Create and maintain scope spreadsheets for proper buyout
  • Receive, evaluate, and compare sub/supplier pricing
  • Participate in bid strategy
  • Ensure adequate subcontractor coverage
