About The Position

John Grace Restoration and Construction has been West Michigan’s choice for emergency services and restoration repairs following property damage for the last 10 years. We help homeowners recover from water, fire/smoke, storm, flood, and mold damage. Our staff are experts in the insurance claim process, working in the customer’s best interest and guiding them through the claim process. John Grace staff are highly trained in mitigating loss, scoping/estimating repairs, and ensuring timely and high-quality repair work. As an Estimator, you’ll be responsible for working alongside homeowners and insurance adjusters to prepare detailed and accurate estimates that include materials, labor and subcontracted work to complete restoration on a damaged residence.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of on-the-job experience in verifiable restoration estimator role working with Xactimate.
  • Able to function in a high stress environment that can change daily.
  • Excellent time management, delegation, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Strong technological abilities.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.
  • Must pass a criminal background check to perform work on insurance related claims.
  • Basic knowledge of smartphone/email technology.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and accurate estimates that include materials, labor and subcontracted work to complete restoration on a damaged residence.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of construction and job-site safety.
  • Maintain strong awareness of project financials and budget planning.
  • Communicate technical knowledge effectively to homeowners who may be unfamiliar with construction terminology and processes.
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors/vendors.
  • Think creatively and problem-solve in the moment.
  • Motivate teams to promote efficiency and productivity.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of profitability to look for opportunities and efficiencies.
  • Work with Project Manager and Property Owner to ensure appropriate and timely cash collections per John Grace process.
  • Ensure John Grace process is known by all and consistently followed.
  • Actively participate in biweekly team meetings.
  • Attend project hand-off meetings with Project Manager.
  • Work with Project Manager on any supplements and ensure all items are on budget.
  • Review completed projects with General Operations Manager to receive feedback to support efficiency and profitability goals.
  • Work diligently to ensure highly satisfied customers.
  • Ensure all expenditures are appropriately applied to job costing.
  • Conduct thorough job scopes, and meet deadlines for estimate approval.
