About The Position

Estimators (Structural & Miscellaneous Steel) are responsible for providing a complete estimate and proposal for assigned projects and assisting the Operations Team after the projects are sold. Senior Level Duties and Responsibilities include reviewing all construction documents, coordinating with the Operations Team and outside vendors on how the job is to be built, coordinating with the customer to ensure a complete package, anticipating the full scope of work, and comparing contract documents to estimate to identify revisions or value engineering. Requirements

• Provide a complete estimate and proposal for assigned projects.
• Assist the Operations Team after projects are sold.
• Work with the Preconstruction Manager, vendors, and subcontractors to provide thorough cost estimates for Structural and Miscellaneous Steel projects.
• Prepare pricing estimates, including developing a takeoff of all material and labor required for the project.
• Distribute plans, specifications, and addenda to subcontractors and vendors.
• Work with outside vendors and subcontractors to request and receive project-specific pricing.
• Review in detail assigned subcontractor and vendor quotations for full compliance with the plans and specifications.
• Thoroughly review all take-off and pricing for completeness on all self-performed work.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
• Provide trade-specific scope of work to Preconstruction Manager for incorporation into proposals.
• Assist in the preparation of sales proposals.
• Develop initial project budget and scope of work upon award of projects.
• Enter the steel estimate into job cost control program and participate in turnover/transition meetings with the Operations team.
• Assist in procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors as required.
• Review all construction documents including Instructions to Bidders and provided Scope of Work lists.
• Coordinate with Operations Team and outside vendors on how the job is to be built in both our shop and in the field.
• Coordinate with the customer to help ensure we are providing a complete package with a thorough understanding of the project schedule and project specific requirements.
• Anticipate/understand the full scope of work and compare contract documents to estimate to identify revisions or value engineering that may not be immediately evident.
• Coordinate with other Estimators to ensure complete bid scope coverage.
