About The Position

Belmark is seeking an energetic and motivated Estimator to prepare cost estimates for all products, determining mark ups according to product and market. The role involves pricing incoming jobs, comparing actual costs with estimates, analyzing variations, and making recommendations to improve the quote-hit ratio. Belmark is a nationally recognized company in the label and packaging industry, primarily serving the food and beverage market. Requirements

  • Requires education equivalent to graduation from high school; additional education preferred.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to effectively utilize the English language.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to operate a computer.
  • Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment.
  • Ability to type accurately and neatly.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be a self-motivated individual.
  • Requires nearly constant concentration and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to communicate and answer questions in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to formulate work plans, prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans.
  • Ability to give, receive and analyze information.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for following all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
  • Prepare cost estimates.
  • Maintain updated technical knowledge on capabilities, materials, adhesives, etc.
  • Originate, maintain and revise standards.
  • Compare actual with estimated costs, analyze and make recommendations to improve quote-hit ratio.
  • Work with Sales Representatives, Product Managers, Technical Services, Production Administration and Production to determine alternative sales pricing suggestions.
  • Price jobs and confirm pricing to customers.
  • Provide accurate information to customers.
  • May do some filing.
  • Keep and maintain organized records of estimates/quotes.
  • May email to Sales Representatives, customers or prospective customers.
  • May be required to make presentations to existing customers and prospective customers.
  • May require occasional overnight travel with other company representatives.
  • Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by manager.
