Estimator - Water/Wastewater
About The Position
We are looking for an experienced Water/Wastewater Estimator to help pursue and plan water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The role develops accurate, competitive estimates and partners closely with operations and project management from bid through project handoff. The estimator evaluates scope, constructability, risk, and cost, with an understanding of water/wastewater construction and self-performed work. The position covers water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, process piping, and related infrastructure. It includes preparing estimates and budgets, supporting bid reviews and post-award buyout, and helping operations and project teams prepare for successful project execution.
Requirements
- Experience estimating water and/or wastewater construction projects.
- Experience with self-performed structural concrete and/or heavy civil construction.
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, and productivity.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong quantity takeoff, cost analysis, and scope review skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with HCSS, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, and On-Screen Takeoff preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop estimates for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, process piping, and related infrastructure.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for self-performed labor, materials, and equipment.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals and ensure scope coverage.
- Evaluate project phasing, staging, logistics, constructability, and sequencing.
- Develop preliminary schedules to support estimating efforts.
- Identify project risks, opportunities, value-engineering ideas, and cost-saving strategies.
- Participate in bid reviews with operations and project management.
- Prepare detailed project budgets and lead estimating-to-project-team handoffs.
- Support subcontractor and supplier buyout following award.
- Partner with operations and project teams to help set projects up for successful execution.
