About The Position

The Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating the total costs associated with a project. Estimators work closely with consultants, contractors, accountants, and operations personnel to provide the most accurate and comprehensive financial and budget analysis. This role is responsible for deciding the projected time frame needed to complete a project in addition to critical factors such as labor needs, materials, budgets, and any potential setbacks that may arise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field
  • 4-7 years of experience in budgeting, estimating commercial interiors, retail, core and shell as well as out of the ground construction projects
  • Working knowledge of Aviation estimating
  • Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Proficient in reading commercial construction plans and specifications
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential/proprietary information
  • Ability to multi-task while focusing on quality, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure of bid deadlines
  • Ability to value engineer to best meet the goals of the project
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of On-Screen Takeoff preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed conceptual budgets from pre-construction, concept design, schematic design, and design development documents
  • Perform detailed take-offs of all trades
  • Initiate prequalification process of all subcontractors
  • Initiate and manage entire bid process (CM and GC) inclusive of preparation of detailed bid packages and assure accurate and proper submissions/proposals by all subcontractors
  • Accurately level all subcontractor bids and review to select the most cost-effective option
  • Review documentation, meet with clients, and inspect the construction site to fully understand what work is required
  • Collect all pertinent documents including property plans, technical drawings, and project specifications
  • Perform risk assessments to account for potential deviations from the project plan
  • Maintain relationships with key vendors and subcontractors
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and subcontractors to understand and incorporate project objectives, schedules, permits, costs, etc.
  • Communicate regularly with field team on deliverables and procurement schedules
  • Other duties as assigned
