About The Position

The Estimator role involves providing complete and accurate trade-specific estimates, assembling bid tabs with estimates and vendor/sub quotes, and coordinating scope internally and externally. This position also identifies value engineering opportunities and addresses design or scope gaps. The role requires a solid understanding of the estimation process, including reviewing project documents, identifying the scope of work, performing material, labor, and equipment takeoffs, and walking difficult projects. The Estimator will identify and document difficult/non-standard conditions, coordinate with the Preconstruction Team to fill scope gaps, clarify scope with the General Contractor and Engineer, and obtain quotes from vendors and subcontractors. They will assemble the Bid Tab, provide value engineering ideas, verify estimate accuracy, file electronic documents, participate in the turnover process to Operations, and act as a liaison between Estimating and Field Operations, following up on past awards. Employees are accountable for safety and health and empowered to stop work if an unsafe condition is present.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of estimation process.
  • College/University graduate with 7 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of skills and experience (for Estimator 2).
  • 3+ years of relevant experience (for Professional Estimator 1).
  • College/university graduate or equivalent combination of skills and experience (for Professional Estimator 1).

Responsibilities

  • Completely assemble the Bid Tab in a timely manner.
  • Provide value engineering ideas.
  • Verify estimate accuracy by comparing data versus similar bids.
  • File electronic documents.
  • Participate in turnover process to Operations.
  • Liaison between Estimating and Field Operations.
  • Follow up on past awards.
