About The Position

Maverick Corporation is seeking an Estimator to stay ahead of the industry’s changes and the growing demand for our services. The successful candidate will be responsible for the estimating and proposal submittal for the full range of civil & electrical engineering and construction projects, such as electric vehicle installations, electrical substation and infrastructure developments, cabling, overhead line works, civil works, and telecom and associated maintenance works, for all voltage levels. This role requires someone with a strong understanding of unit cost estimating; and developing & reviewing unit costs for construction, civil and electrical works. The potential candidates should have a proven track as an estimator, with a commercial background and strong analytical skillset.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years relevant work experience in costing / estimating of construction projects & civil engineering / utility projects would be preferable.
  • Working knowledge and experience with estimating software a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability as an estimator – delivering accurate project & unit costs to a high quality and standard, fully supported with detailed logic, assumptions, and key source data.
  • Knowledge and experience in unit cost estimating, project cost development and budgetary planning.
  • Strong IT skills with proficiency in Office 365 applications.
  • A logical and systematic approach to data analytics and problem solving.
  • Ability to understand and make decisions based on the relationships between, financial, safety, and technical risks.
  • Strong leadership skills, with significant experience of working from own initiative and taking ownership of work.
  • The ability to deliver high quality work to tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the cost estimating function and be responsible for developing and maintaining unit cost estimates for all electrical, EV, construction and telecom projects.
  • Prepare qualifications and assumptions for the estimate.
  • Review and present estimates to senior management.
  • Prepare cost comparisons and reconciliations with previous estimates.
  • Continual review and assessment of unit costs and their application to ensure cost accuracy on projects.
  • Ensure the estimating process runs smoothly, promptly, and efficiently and that client expectations are achieved throughout the duration of the pre-bid, bid and construction process.
  • Complete detailed analysis of cost variances, technical approvals and final projects costs, and reporting key findings to improve future cost estimates.
  • Engage with designers, project managers, planners, and project leaders to identify improvements in cost performance and in cost estimating.
  • All other tasks as assigned by management.
