About The Position

This role involves providing complete and accurate trade-specific estimates, assembling bid tabs with estimates and vendor/sub quotes, and coordinating scope internally and externally. The position also requires identifying value engineering opportunities and filling in minor design/scope gaps. The Estimator will work under indirect supervision, utilizing advanced techniques and knowledge within their function. They will apply diversified knowledge of applicable principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments, making independent decisions regarding complexities and methods. Guidance will be provided for overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. The role involves acting as a liaison to groups within and outside the organization, with the responsibility to act independently regarding matters pertaining to their function. This position requires a college/university graduate with 7 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of skills and experience.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of estimation process.
  • College/University graduate with 7 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
  • Fully competent in all conventional aspects of subject matter or functional area (for Estimator 1).
  • Ability to plan and conduct work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation/modification of standards (for Estimator 1).
  • Ability to devise new solutions to problems encountered (for Estimator 1).
  • Ability to independently perform most assignments with instruction (for Estimator 1).
  • 3+ years of relevant experience (for Estimator 1).
  • College/university graduate or equivalent combination of skills and experience generally expected for specified technical roles (for Estimator 1).

Responsibilities

  • Provide complete and accurate trade specific estimates.
  • Assemble Bid Tab with estimates and vendor/sub quotes.
  • Coordinate and clarify scope internally and externally.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and fill in minor design/score gaps.
  • Review project documents.
  • Identify scope of work.
  • Perform material, labor, and equipment takeoffs.
  • Walk difficult projects.
  • Identify and document difficult/ non-standard conditions.
  • Coordinate with Preconstruction Team to identify and fill scope gaps.
  • Clarify scope with General Contractor and Engineer.
  • Obtain quotes and coordinate/qualify scope with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Completely assemble the Bid Tab in a timely manner.
  • Provide value engineering ideas.
  • Verify estimate accuracy by comparing data versus similar bids.
  • File electronic documents.
  • Participate in turnover process to Operations.
  • Act as Liaison between Estimating and Field Operations.
  • Follow up on past awards.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Implement and maintain all safety and health systems practices including the training requirement of RK Mechanical Orientation.
