About The Position

Skillforce is searching for an Estimator who can confidently analyze drawings and specifications, develop accurate and competitive pricing, and support our operations team with clear, well-built scopes. This role directly impacts profitability, workload forecasting, and long-term client relationships. With over 20 years of industry experience, Skillforce specializes in both powder and liquid coatings, offering abrasive blasting, fireproofing, and linings that can be applied in-shop or on-site. Our team guarantees long-lasting, durable finishes, adhering to the highest safety and quality standards while staying within your project's timeline and budget. We are a licensed and insured certified WBE firm. With more than 160,000 square feet of heated indoor production space at each facility and locations in GA, AL, OK and OH, we are built for scale. Our production capacity, grit recycling systems, climate-controlled environments, and experienced crews allow us to execute complex structural steel projects safely, efficiently, and at volume. We are growing — and we’re looking for an experienced Estimator who understands what it takes to price large, high-performance steel coating and fireproofing projects with precision and confidence.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of estimating experience in structural steel, industrial coatings, fireproofing, or related construction/manufacturing fields
  • Must have BIM experience
  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications with confidence
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and estimating software
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
  • Strong communication skills — able to ask the right questions and clarify scope
  • Understanding of production-based environments and job costing

Nice To Haves

  • Bluebeam, Autodesk Revit modeling software experience a big plus
  • Strong understanding of surface preparation, coatings systems, and fireproofing applications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing structural steel drawings and project specifications
  • Performing detailed quantity takeoffs
  • Building comprehensive cost estimates for blasting, coatings, fireproofing, handling, and transport
  • Evaluating labor, material, equipment, and production factors
  • Identifying risks, exclusions, and scope gaps
  • Collaborating with operations, project management, and leadership to align pricing with production realities
  • Preparing clear, professional bid proposals
  • Supporting handoff to operations upon award
