About The Position

The Construction Estimator prepares accurate cost estimates and competitive bids for commercial and industrial construction projects involving Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) systems. The role supports projects in advanced manufacturing, mission-critical facilities, and industrial construction markets. Candidates based in Knoxville or East Tennessee are preferred; remote work or relocation may be considered for qualified applicants. The estimator independently manages the estimating process, from reviewing project drawings and performing quantity takeoffs through developing final bid proposals. The role requires identifying scope gaps and cost risks, evaluating supplier pricing, coordinating with general contractors, suppliers, and internal teams, and maintaining complete, accurate bid documentation.

Requirements

3–7 years of construction estimating experience.
Ability to independently prepare complete construction estimates, perform quantity takeoffs, and submit competitive bids.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, technical specifications, and bid documents.
Hands-on experience calculating labor, material, equipment, and installation costs for commercial or industrial projects.
Familiarity with construction estimating software and Microsoft Excel or comparable estimating tools.
Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
Demonstrated ownership of the estimating process; experience limited to project coordination, material ordering, or estimating assistance is not considered a strong fit.

Nice To Haves

3–5 years of direct Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) estimating experience is strongly preferred.

Develop bid proposals outlining pricing, scope inclusions, exclusions, and project assumptions.
Identify scope gaps, potential cost risks, and project-specific requirements that could affect estimate accuracy or profitability.
Request and evaluate supplier quotations to verify material costs and maintain competitive pricing.
Coordinate with general contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to clarify project requirements and resolve estimating questions.
Maintain organized estimating records, cost breakdowns, and bid documentation while meeting submission deadlines.
Review estimates for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project drawings and specifications.
