About The Position

Cinfab is looking for an Estimator in the Lexington, KY, Columbus or Cincinnati, Ohio area. The primary goal is to perform assigned duties in a manner that allows CINFAB to be recognized as the preferred sheet metal contractor, fabricator, and service provider within its targeted markets and customer base. This involves maintaining a positive, high-performing culture, building strong relationships with all stakeholders, and safely achieving the lowest risk and most profitable results.

Requirements

5 years construction estimating experience is preferred.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or similar is preferred.

Responsibilities

Review all bid documents completely and investigate the "big picture" to incorporate challenges such as site access, schedule, specifications, and general conditions into the estimate.
Update the CINFAB spreadsheet with Field and Shop latest labor rates.
Confirm the CINFAB spreadsheet is calculating properly.
Gain market intelligence that could influence the chances of winning the project.
Set up estimating files properly and save them to the correct location.
Determine appropriate services required by specifications to ensure the estimate includes everything necessary to fabricate ductwork at the time of bid.
Build relationships with local Construction Managers and General Contractors for open discussions.
Maintain contact with existing relationships to avoid losing track of individuals.
Develop relationships with other Mechanical Contractors for future opportunities.
Ensure subcontractors, vendors, internal support personnel, and other trade contractors feel they have been treated fairly and professionally.
Pursue additional vendors to establish relationships for future needs.
Pass on any commitments needed to obtain special pricing during the estimating process to the Operations Team.
Request frequent feedback from customers to confirm the Scope of Work and Pricing are acceptable, easy to read, and serve their purpose.
Request frequent feedback from the internal Operations Team to confirm the estimate summary and turnover information is acceptable, easy to read, and serves their purpose.
Thoroughly review and understand specification front-end documents.
Conduct a detailed review of specifications, schedules on drawings, and details, and include these details in the project turnover.
Provide a preliminary Duct Construction schedule to operations and coordination at turnover, listing services used in the estimate.
Thoroughly review vendor quotes to ensure they are complete and can be carried in the bid.
Use previous like project(s) achieved productivity when completing the estimate.
Request Computerease reports from Operations as required.
For key projects, include the Estimating Manager, Cinfab President, Cinfab VP of Operations, Grote President, and if possible, the Field Superintendent and PM for the project in a formal review prior to completing the estimate.
