Estimators (Structural & Miscellaneous Steel) are responsible for providing a complete estimate and proposal for assigned projects and assisting the Operations Team after the projects are sold. This role involves working with the Preconstruction Manager, vendors, and subcontractors to provide thorough cost estimates for Structural and Miscellaneous Steel projects. The estimator will prepare pricing estimates, including developing a takeoff of all material and labor required for the project, which will be combined with outside vendor pricing to produce a complete project cost estimate. Duties also include distributing plans, specifications, and addenda to subcontractors and vendors, working with them to request and receive project-specific pricing, and reviewing their quotations for compliance with plans and specifications. The role requires thorough review of all take-off and pricing for completeness on self-performed work, participation in pre-bid meetings and site visits, and providing trade-specific scope of work to the Preconstruction Manager. Upon award of projects, the estimator will develop the initial project budget and scope of work, enter the steel estimate into the job cost control program, and participate in turnover/transition meetings with the Operations team. Assistance with procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors may also be required.
