ESTIMATOR SENIOR Reporting to the Sales Director, the Senior Estimator is responsible for all estimating activities within their territory. This role includes supporting junior estimators on the estimating team, preparing and approving bids, and developing and maintaining estimating procedures, tools, and strategies to ensure the consistency, accuracy, and performance of bids.

Requirements

  • College diploma (DEC) or university degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in estimating within the civil engineering and infrastructure sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining estimating procedures, standards, and tools.
  • Excellent ability to read plans and specifications, identify required products, and estimate quantities.
  • Strong skills in cost analysis, mathematics, and problem-solving.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and web tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Fluent in both spoken and written French and English

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, coach, and support the estimating team to ensure performance, consistency, and adherence to deadlines
  • Prepare and analyze estimates for various markets, including infrastructure, forestry, agriculture, and retail.
  • Research, track, and manage the bid pipeline for the territory, including public tenders and private opportunities.
  • Review, validate, and approve estimates, bids, and cost analyses.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, operations, production, and engineering to develop competitive bidding strategies
  • Analyze historical data, costs, and variances to improve the accuracy of estimates.
  • Train, mentor, and develop team members while ensuring adherence to established procedures.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and practices in accordance with internal policies and health and safety standards.
