About The Position

Mercury Print Productions is seeking an Estimator/Production Planner to join their team. This role is a hybrid position primarily responsible for creating accurate estimates and developing efficient, cost-effective production plans. Depending on capacity, the individual will also act as a Production Planner, evaluating print orders and coordinating resources to ensure optimal implementation. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be of legal working age and eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Previous account management, customer service, estimating, or production planning experience preferred.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • A strong ability to multitask and excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, familiarity with printing MIS and file processing programs is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and courteously with co-workers, vendors, and customers.
  • Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal, and professional phone etiquette.
  • Ability to bend, lift and carry up to 25 lbs.; sit for extended periods; complete repetitive tasks; operate computers and/or machines (dexterity, bend, stretch, reach, climb, crouch, etc.); and communicate effectively.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Generate accurate and timely delivery of quotes based on specifications provided by Sales Representatives, Account Managers, and customers.
  • Calculate production times using factors like size, quantity, stock, art complexity, colors, and finishing requirements using PrintVis MIS software.
  • Collaborate with Sales Reps and Account Managers to offer alternative materials or manufacturing plans that can improve quality and/or lower costs.
  • Negotiate with outside vendors to secure best pricing and maintain up-to-date vendor price lists.
  • Develop pricing expertise by obtaining knowledge of materials and supplier costs, as well as industry price changes.
  • Construct accurate and clear production job tickets, impositions, and purchase orders with a focus on optimizing manufacturing workflow for cost effectiveness.
  • Review customer-supplied materials (art files, samples, layouts) to confirm successful manufacturing processes.
  • Create production plans that meet quality standards while consistently lowering overall internal and external costs.
  • Maintain close communication with production and scheduling teams to review, confirm, and refine manufacturing plan.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and create accurate purchase orders as needed.
  • Continuously work to develop skills / knowledge and complete all training required by the company.
  • Be a team player, communicate clearly and respectfully and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Be dependable, reliable, and consistently perform high quality work meeting company production standards.
  • Create a safe and hazard free work environment; follow safety protocols and report any risks.
  • Perform other duties as needed / assigned.
