About The Position

The Estimator II independently prepares complete estimates for small to mid-sized electrical construction projects. This role performs complete takeoffs, coordinates vendor pricing, and begins influencing final pricing decisions. The Estimator II is expected to manage multiple bids simultaneously with limited supervision.

Requirements

  • 2-5+ years of estimating, controls, and/or electrical engineering experience in commercial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and components.
  • Proficiency in Accubid and estimating techniques.
  • Strong understanding of NEC requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet bid deadlines.
  • Ability to work under supervision and independently.
  • Ability to deal effectively with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.
  • Be orderly and systematic in work.
  • See details and recognize errors, implementing corrective action as needed.
  • Use logical procedures in completing work.
  • Proactive, pursuing results with energy, drive, professionalism, and urgency.
  • Understand ideas and present information clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Independently prepare detailed quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and bid documents for small to mid-sized projects.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and scope documents to identify requirements and risks.
  • Coordinate vendor and subcontractor pricing and negotiate pricing as appropriate.
  • Incorporate historical cost data and productivity analysis into estimates.
  • Interface with project managers, contractors, and customers to refine scope and budget.
  • Track project budgets and compare estimates against actual costs for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings.
  • Maintain organized estimate documentation and backup files.
  • Support awarded projects, including change orders and credits.
  • Mentor assigned Estimating Assistants or Project Engineers.
  • Perform work in compliance with company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to aid in company and professional success.
