About The Position

The Estimator - HVAC & Plumbing position is critical to providing accurate estimates and proposals for all projects. This role fuels the pursuit of new business opportunities for all RTMC Multifamily Divisions nationwide for both the plumbing and mechanical trades. The company, R.T. Moore, is a mid-size mechanical contractor company where employees are treated with respect, and leadership cares about them as individuals and listens to their input. They offer a steady Monday-Friday schedule with no nights or weekends.

  • Proficient in using basic office equipment
  • Mastery of Microsoft Word and Excel plus Internet and email; proficient with the remainder of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to investigate, be resourceful and self-sufficient
  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • 3+ years of construction and/or estimating experience
  • 5 years of field experience (plumbing and HVAC) if no college degree

Responsibilities

  • Accurately estimate and sell all multi-family work
  • Correctly build estimate in Fly sheet; build proposals to match Fly and job requirements
  • Proactively suggest VE opportunities to customer
  • Routinely review estimate with VP of Business Development
  • Periodically meet with customers to review proposals once developed
  • Rigorously audit contracts and markup scope; send contracts to appropriate stakeholders for review
  • Readily assist inside project engineers/pre-start with submittals, ensuring accuracy of items submitted
  • Smoothly transition project to pre-start by thoroughly providing all information requested on the checklist
  • Attentively participate in BDM meetings; take minutes, review status of builder, IN and FL work, holding individuals accountable for their responsibilities
  • Strategically search for new projects through news, customer network, and referrals
  • Meticulously inspect written communication to contractors
  • Enthusiastically aid other departments with estimates, designs, and code issues
  • Confidently establish and build strong relationships with customers
  • Efficiently work as a key liaison between contractor and RTMC through the preconstruction process, ensuring that the contractor’s expectations for materials, schedule, and scope of work are clearly communicated to both the customer and pre-start group
  • Strategically create and maintain builder template for coordinator use, including billing templates, job copy templates, and builder option templates
  • Consistently provide support for builder contract coordinators
