Position Overview As an Estimator – Foundations (Power Delivery), you will develop accurate, competitive estimates for civil and foundation scopes supporting transmission line and substation construction projects. This includes estimating for a range of foundation systems such as: Drilled piers and caissons Spread footings and structural foundations Direct embed and pole foundations Grounding systems and site civil work You will evaluate bid documents, drawings, and specifications, coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers, and collaborate with Project Management teams to ensure successful bids and seamless project handoff. Projects typically range from $500K to $10M and require strong attention to detail, organization, and knowledge of foundation construction methods in power delivery environments.

Requirements

  • Experience in estimating or exposure to power delivery, utility, civil, or electrical construction
  • Familiarity with foundation and civil scopes supporting transmission or substation projects preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits, pre‑bid meetings, and bid reviews

Nice To Haves

  • Experience estimating drilled pier, caisson, or structural foundation systems
  • Familiarity with soil conditions, geotechnical reports, and foundation design considerations
  • Experience working with utility clients or power delivery contractors
  • Exposure to estimating software or takeoff tools (HCSS, InEight, or similar)

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze bid specifications, drawings, and scope documents related to transmission and substation foundation work
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontract scopes
  • Develop accurate pricing for civil construction activities, including excavation, concrete, foundations, and site work
  • Solicit, evaluate, and follow up with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure complete bid coverage
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and estimating team members to align scope, schedule, and execution strategies
  • Identify scope gaps, constructability challenges, and project risks
  • Maintain organized estimate files, assumptions, and pricing documentation throughout the bidding process
  • Support bid closeout, turnover, and continuous improvement efforts
