About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking an Estimator for Data Center Security Installation to join their Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. This role is responsible for pricing data center security installation construction projects during the bid and proposal phase, managing bids from Request for Proposal receipt to contract award. The SES unit designs, engineers, integrates, operates, and maintains electronic security services including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering
  • 6+ years of experience with an Associate’s Degree
  • 8+ years experience with a high school diploma or GED
  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Identify and understand the speech of another person.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a bid from Request for Proposal receipt through to contract award.
  • Develop budgets for projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical proposals, including assisting in the design and writing of the scope of work, management plans, work sequence, safety, quality control, and commissioning.
  • Gather data and assist in preparing bid proposal estimates and design/build proposals.
  • Perform take-offs from drawings.
  • Develop and present clear and detailed project scopes to the customer.
  • Meet with potential customers to present proposals.
  • Ensure the bid complies with all standards, specifications, and budgets.
  • Develop project schedules utilizing the Critical Path Method.
  • Assign cost and manpower to the schedule to provide cash and manpower forecasting.
  • Understand plans and specifications to identify the types and grades of materials and equipment needed and to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Understand and apply cost fundamentals.
  • Maintain current, accurate information on prices from suppliers and contractors.
