About The Position

The FedGov Estimator supports the estimating efforts for Federal construction projects by developing accurate, compliant, and executable estimates. This position interprets contract documents, drawings, and specifications while coordinating with internal teams, manufacturers, and customers to support successful project delivery and operational execution.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of estimating experience within the commercial door, frame, hardware, specialty construction, or building products industry.
  • Experience utilizing Comsense or equivalent estimating software.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment background screening and drug testing.
  • Proficient blueprint, specification, and contract document interpretation.
  • Working knowledge of commercial door, frame, hardware, Division 10, and related specialty construction products, including applicable building codes, fire codes, ADA, and life safety requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Federal procurement practices and Government construction requirements.
  • Ability to identify scope conflicts, specification discrepancies, and project risks for escalation and resolution.
  • Experience working within controlled Government documentation environments while maintaining document confidentiality.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines and business units.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and capable of managing multiple Federal estimating assignments simultaneously.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Federal construction estimating experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates for Federal construction projects utilizing drawings, specifications, addenda, and contract documents.
  • Perform complete door, frame, hardware, Division 10, and related specialty system takeoffs and pricing.
  • Interpret project specifications and identify scope discrepancies, conflicts, and clarification opportunities for escalation.
  • Coordinate pricing with manufacturers and suppliers to develop complete and competitive proposals.
  • Develop estimates utilizing Comsense and manufacturer pricing while maintaining estimate accuracy and documentation.
  • Support compliance with Federal contract requirements, including Buy America, Trade Agreements Act (TAA), Davis-Bacon, FAR, DFARS, and agency-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Operations, Project Management, Procurement, and Detailing to support successful project execution.
  • Participate in project turnover meetings and assist in communicating project scope, assumptions, and estimate documentation.
  • Compare estimated versus actual project performance to support continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
